Assassination Of British Datt
Brigadier Stephen Saunder, the British defense attache to Greece, was
killed by two men on a motorcycle as he drove to work on Kifissias Avenue
in Athens. Brigadier Saunders was hit by four .45 caliber bullets to the
abdomen. He later died due to injuries sustained. The terrorist group 17
November claimed responsibility to the attack on June 9, 2000.

Strike by Teachers and Transport Workers
Unions in France have promised a new strike by teachers and transport
workers on 10 June 2003, the day before pension reforms are put before
parliament. A continuing strike by air traffic controllers has led to
delays of up to 90 minutes at Paris airports, and on Tuesday, four out of
five flights in and out of France were grounded, and public transportation
in both France and Austria grounded to a halt. Demonstrations could occur
in Austria, France and Italy as the summer approaches in response to
